4 is the fourth studio album by English rock band Black Sabbath, released in September 1972. It was the first album by Black Sabbath not produced by Rodger Bain; guitarist Tony Iommi assumed production duties. Patrick Meehan, the band's then-manager, was listed as co-producer, though his actual involvement in the album's production was minimal. In June 1972, Black Sabbath began work on their fourth album at the Record Plant studios in Los Angeles.
Hanging Out. In Love.
Best Black Sabbath album to have ever been recorded! Best lineup of Black Sabbath, by far: Ozzy Osbourne - vocals Tony Iommi - guitar Geezer Butler - bass Bill Ward - drums. Vo. is Black Sabbath's most special work, with the mega finale "Under The Sun" as their greatest piece. Every track in the album is phenomenal and manifests the band's magic chemistry at its best. Awesome, unforgettable record. You may assume that this is a big step for Sabbath, and maybe the quality of their music would be affected, however the Album is quality. Undeniably master of reality and paranoid are far superior, but this album is immensely respectable, It just shows how Sabbath will never die.

Note: First wave black metal bands like Celtic Frost, Venom, Mercyful Fate, Hellhammer, etc. were not included in this list, instead focusing on the next wave which ushered in the commonly accepted sound synonymous with black metal. Very few scenes have had as much worldwide influence than the one in Norway which began in the late '80s. Euronymous ran the Deathlike Silence label and was responsible for helping spread this new brand of music around the world, where other pockets were catching on to the sound, especially in Sweden (thanks to progenitors Bathory as well) and, to a much smaller extent, the United States. Black metal steadily gained awareness in Norway during these next few years as several of the scene's members would be involved in the wave of church burnings that plagued the country among other criminal and infamous activities.
