Three Imaginary Boys is the debut album by British alternative rock band the Cure, released on 8 May 1979 by record label Fiction. It was later released in the United States, Canada and Australia with a different tracklist as Boys Don't Cry. Three Imaginary Boys was released on 8 May 1979 by record label Fiction. The record company decided which songs were put on the album, as well as the cover artwork, without Robert Smith's consent.

Three Imaginary Boys is the debut studio album by The Cure, released on May 8, 1979 by Fiction Records. The band consisted of three schoolmates who had been rejected by many major labels, but when their demo tape was tossed into the postbox of Chris Parry (the man who’d gotten The Jam and Siouxsie and the Banshees signed to Polydor), he signed them to his own label. The album was recorded in three nights at London’s Morgan Studios.

Three Imaginary Boys. Released: 08 May 1979. Producer: Chris Parry. Recorded At: Morgan Studios, London, UK. Original. I wrote "10:15 Saturday Night" and "Killing an Arab" when I was about sixteen, and we recorded the album when I was eighteen, so I wasn't really still convinced by some of the songs.

This debut album is unlike anything The Cure ever made. While it's not exactly a celebrated classic, the record is an impressive display of the band's early abilities. Entirely composed of energetic punkish rock, "Three Imaginary Boys" is both eccentric and dark. Its standout tracks are "10:13 Saturday Night", "Accuracy" and "Fire In Cairo". While Robert Smith has expressed disappointment with this release, most post-punk fans will find it to be enjoyable.

Unlike Hendrix Lockhart I thought this was an amazing debut LP. There were so many strong catchy tunes, which made airplay. Although Robert Smith has some disappointments with his record company over the final package, I find it to be amazing. First effort, and their youthful vigor comes something simple but with effective rhythms and guitar riffs that keep you coming back for more. I do recommend this as a must have or hear if you are a Cure fan. Even if you are not you got to give it a try. You also have to remember that this was recorded in the late 70's, and this was a budding genre. I do love the diversity of sounds that come from the Cure over their career.

Their début starts off OK with "10:15 Saturday Night", but after that it's not that it really goes down hill as much as it doesn't go anywhere. It's not bad, but not good.
