Jean Redpath MBE (28 April 1937 – 21 August 2014) was a Scottish folk singer, educator and musician. Jean Redpath was born in Edinburgh to musical parents. Her mother knew many Scots songs and passed them on to Jean and her brother; her father played the hammered dulcimer. She was raised in Leven, Fife, Scotland, and later returned to Edinburgh, taking medieval studies at the university.

This album contain 12 titles including a CD booklet with Jean's notes regarding each song. Jean Redpath was internationally known as a singer and lecturer of traditional Scottish ballads and was considered the foremost authority of the songs of Robert Burns. She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and performed the songs of her native land for over thirty years. Redpath also appeared on such radio programs as Morning Pro Musica on Boston's WGBH public radio station.
