Ludwig van Beethoven. Piano, Primary Artist.
Turkish pianist Idil Biret's series of Beethoven sonatas is emerging as a major statement in the field, entirely different in emphasis from that of Andras Schiff and the other cycles that have appeared in recent years. She favors slow tempos and a light touch, which brings out small details, all subsumed within a convincing and well thought-out overall architecture.

In the 1970's and 1980's, Biret recorded for a now-forgotten label known as Finnadar. The Finnadar label was part of the Warner - Atlantic chain.
Ludwig van Beethoven wrote his 32 piano sonatas between 1795 and 1822. Although originally not intended to be a meaningful whole, as a set they compose one of the most important collections of works in the history of music. Hans von Bülow called them "The New Testament" of the piano literature (Johann Sebastian Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier being "The Old Testament").
