Waiting For The Parade' was the third album from L&T, and saw them sign with the Dutch label SI Music, who at the time was certainly one of the most important progressive labels in Europe. The 'live' drumming definitely helps as well as it adds something to the songs.

I found out There's nothing better than a Big Parade There's people there of each and every shade And everyone's wearing a smile. And I found out There's nothing sweeter than a gig like that I'll ride a horse, and wear a big white hat And I will be wearing a smile. Once in a while I think I'd like to get away Leave this crowd, if only for a day Kneel on the hill and watch the big balloons go by And you can be there when I cry. I found out There's nothing finer than a holy day We'll act as if it's the only day If only for a while

And you say, be still my love Open up your heart Let the light shine in But don't you understand I already have a plan I'm waiting for my real life to begin. When I awoke today, suddenly nothing happened But in my dreams, I slew the dragon And down this beaten path, up this cobbled lane I'm walking in my old footsteps, once again. And you say, just be here now Forget about the past, your mask is wearing thin Just let me throw one more dice I know that I can win I'm waiting for my real life to begin

The Doors' 1967 albums had raised expectations so high that their third effort was greeted as a major disappointment. With a few exceptions, the material was much mellower, and while this yielded some fine melodic ballad rock in "Love Street," "Wintertime Love," "Summer's Almost Gone," and "Yes, the River Knows," there was no denying that the songwriting was not as impressive as it had been on the first two records.
