Marimba Mia On March 12, 1975, less than six weeks before the new album was to be released, Björn and Benny began work on the backing track for ‘Mamma Mia’ at the Metronome Studio in Stockholm, ABBA’s favourite recording location before they opened their own Polar Music Studio. They were helped out by drummer Roger Palm, bassist Mike Watson, and guitarist Finn Sjöberg. It’s like four or five guys just trying to play something together. started playing on. It was the promo clip for "Mamma Mia" that was proving the most popular after repeat screenings on Australian television, notably Molly Meldrum's Countdown. ABBA’s Australian record company, RCA, asked that "Mamma Mia" be released as a single but Polar Music refused. And it quickly became obvious it would have to be a group arrangement. It’s impressively constructed. For most arrangements I can remove a few bits without losing too much. But all the parts here seem essential to the song. Vocal Part Tab. Nothing too challenging in the vocal part (top left of the video). I’m using fingerpicking but you could easily use a pick for the same arrangement. And a pick would help this part stand out if you’re playing in a group.
