Lyrics – I walked across an empty land I knew the pathway like the back of my hand I felt the earth beneath my feet Sat by the river, and it made me complete . I came across a fallen tree I felt the branches of it looking at me Is this the place we used to love? Is this the place that I've been dreaming of? Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
Porcupine Tree carry off this generations love of progressive rock in true style here. Great theme wonderful songs and true musical genius. All PT is great, this is a perfect start for anyone wanting to jump in for the first time. Their best album for sure! One day I would like to see a reunion with Chris back on drums to play the album in its entirety. Also there are some very sad songs on this album, particularly Feel so low. I'm fairly certain it's about his girlfriend that broke up with him and he put his emotions into song.
I walked across an empty land, I knew the pathway like the back of my hand. I felt the earth beneath my feet, Sat by the river and it made me complete. I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin. I came across a fallen tree, I felt the branches of it looking at me. Is this the place we used to love? Is this the place that I've been dreaming of? Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
As I walked out one evening, Walking down Bristol Street, The crowds upon the pavement Were fields of harvest wheat. And down by the brimming river I heard a lover sing Under an arch of the railway: 'Love has no ending
Christmas tree stories. One Christmas Eve the trees in a wood were very unhappy. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands. When opening the door, he underwent an amazing transformation. His tanned face wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss. Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier. Oh, that's my trouble tree,' he replied. I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing for sure, troubles don't belong in the.
Before you look at this album as a Porcupine Tree album, understand that it can be better described as an hour-long experiment. Essentially, it’s Steven Wilson‘s science project, just for music. He explores many different aspects of progressive and psychedelic rock without committing to one particular idea or theme. Since the album is a primarily a compilation of songs that he recorded during the two years prior to the LP’s release, the record is far from cohesive and only scratches the surface of the band’s later styles.
