Sleigh Ride" is the only track on this CD that sounds genuinely festive. Even "Las Mañanitas" is surprisingly mournful; given that it's a birthday/saint's day song, the resemblance to "The Lonely Bull" seems odd. (Actually, having it on the album at all seems odd, because it's not technically a Christmas song. Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass were very popular in the mid-1960s. Their music was played everywhere, and was used in many commercials. It seemed like everyone liked them or, at least, there were not many people who disliked them ("no known enemies").
Rise is a 1979 album by Herb Alpert. Side one. Side two. 2007 reissue. The Rise album was conceived in 1979 after the worldwide success of both the 7" & 12" versions of the single "Rise", a song written by Andy Armer and Randy "Badazz" Alpert which became a million selling hit song on sales charts, radio, and in dance clubs throughout America, Europe, and Japan.
