It’s a pretty classy record, this ‘Bastard’s Daughter’, music that’s been put together with care and that deserves attentive listening. an exquisite album that repays repeated listening and speaks at some level to all of us. Ian Dearden, Trad&Now. Recorded after a move to the Dandenongs in Victoria, the album features nine originals by Janette Geri, who also engineered, played and sang everything on the album, with the exception of lead guitar duties on four songs, where Aaron Burton and Phil Smith provided some tasty licks. Janette Geri, my dearest and most precious friend, sadly passed away last Friday 29 June, a very short four weeks after her diagnosis of lung cancer. A gifted songwriter, with her beautiful voice she has touched thousands. Queen of hard rubbish recycling and renovator extraordinaire, a perfectionist to the end she completed her final album the week before her diagnosis. We thought she just had a sore shoulder! With her lightning wit, wicked sense of humour and sparkling beautiful spirit she will be sadly missed.
