Armored Saint is a heavy metal band originating from Los Angeles, California. Armored Saint was formed in 1982 by brothers Phil and Gonzo Sandoval, and guitarist David Prichard, while attending Woodrow Wilson High School. Next to join were singer John Bush and bassist Joey Vera. Gonzo Sandoval came up with the name after getting stoned with the other band members and seeing the film "Excalibur" at a theater in Monterey Park.

Armored Saint - легенда американского хэви. Группа, наряду с "Металликой" начинавшая металлическое движение, когда, казалось бы, никаких предпосылок к возникновению команд подобной направленности не было.

Throughout the '80s, you'd be hard-pressed to find an American heavy metal band which sounded more British than Armored Saint. While most of their contemporaries seemed preoccupied with the fast-growing thrash metal movement, here was a group of committed purists who were simply updating traditional metal at its best for the '80s generation. By the same token, the band was never able to benefit from the perks of being associated with a "scene" per se, which might explain their relative obscurity despite consistently issuing such quality material.

In my opinion (no expert here), this is an EXCELLENT release and there are only a couple of songs which are good, but not STELLAR like the rest! John Bush has a FANTASTIC voice for what I term as "raw metal". Recommend this to anyone who is just getting in to metal!

The first three songs are classic - "March Of The Saint", "Can You Deliver" and "Madhouse". The rest is quite good, but doesn't quite rise to the same level. John Bush does have a fine metal voice and Dave Pritchard's (R.I.P.) guitar playing is also quite tasty. Certainly a great album, but a few songs short of excellence.
